Start with two measurements
- Choose a unit for each measurement.
- Tap a field and enter its value. On the web, use the number pad or your computer keyboard.
- Choose +, −, × or ÷. The answer updates as you enter valid values.
- Choose the answer unit you need. Use Tape rounding for a practical tape-measure mark.
On the website, Calculate saves the calculation to History. On Android, = saves a valid result and closes the keyboard so you can see it.
Fractions & equal parts
How do I enter 5¼ inches?
Choose Inches. Enter 5 in the whole-inches field, 1 above the fraction line and 4 below it. For a whole number, leave both fraction fields blank. A denominator must be greater than zero.
How do I divide a length into equal sections?
Enter the total length as the first measurement. Choose ÷, then set the second unit to Number (no unit) and enter the number of sections.
5¼ in ÷ 3 = 1¾ in per section
This divides the length equally. If you’re laying out objects with gaps or allowing for saw cuts, account for object widths, end gaps and the blade’s kerf separately.
Why does multiplication show area, or division show a number?
Length × length gives area. Length ÷ length gives a ratio. To multiply a length by a count, or split it into a number of parts, choose Number (no unit) for the count.
Can I mix feet, inches and metric?
Yes. Each measurement has its own unit. Changing a length unit converts the entered measurement; the answer buttons let you view the result in another format. The ≈ symbol marks an approximate value.
What does Tape rounding do?
It shows the nearest 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 or 1/64 inch alongside the exact result. Select Exact when you don’t need a rounded tape mark.
History & copying
Where are my saved calculations?
Open the history icon beside Settings. Tap a saved calculation to restore its inputs, operation and result format. History keeps up to 30 calculations on that device or browser. It does not sync between the website and Android.
Does Copy save another calculation?
No. Copy places the displayed answer on your clipboard. On the web, use Calculate to save a calculation. On Android, use =.
Can I reuse a result?
Tap a history entry to restore it and change its inputs. The Android app also offers whole-measurement Paste controls for continuing calculations. On the website, Copy includes unit labels; when pasting into an individual field, use only the number for that field.
Why is my history missing?
History belongs to this browser and website address. A different browser, device or domain has separate storage. Private browsing, clearing website data or clearing Android app storage can remove it. We do not hold a server backup.
Settings & offline use
How do I change language or appearance?
Open the gear icon in the calculator. Choose English, Spanish, French or Russian, or follow your device’s language. Appearance offers System, Light and Dark. The website’s privacy and support pages are currently in English.
Can I use Inch Plus offline?
The Android app’s calculators work offline. The website needs a connection to load; once loaded, calculations run in your browser. Offline reopening of the website is not guaranteed.
Do I need an account?
No account is required. There are no ads. See the privacy policy for local storage, website hosting and support-email details.
Do trade tools choose code-compliant values for me?
No. Enter the slope, dimensions, fitting deductions or electrical conditions required for your job. These tools do not select regulatory drain slopes, size conductors or choose protective devices. Verify against local codes, manufacturer instructions and professional judgment.
